Upon entering the main barn area you see floor boards two inches thick and twelve to eighteen inches wide. The structure is composed of a massive frame work of posts and beams joined using hand made wooden pegs. The two end walls of the structure are made of stone all the way up to the gables. A lovely stone fireplace in the living room and a massive, custom staircase adds to the drama. The living room and kitchen both have two story ceiling heights of 28’. To the rear of the barn are the newer sections with more traditional construction of drywall and newer hardwood floors. Also, on the main level are two sizeable offices, an exercise room/bedroom, large bedroom with rear staircase and two full baths. The upper level has the master bedroom and bath which share a two sided gas fireplace. Additionally, on the upper level are two large sitting “lofts” both of which are flooded with light from the wall of glass in the gable end.
The lower level is partially finished with full bath, laundry room, three car garage and workshop area. The extensive glass windows are all “Low E” for energy efficiency. There is a 6 zone gas hot water heating system with antique radiators. The Central Air conditioning is also zoned. The kitchen has a stainless steel 4 burner gas commercial range with grill and electric oven. There is even a built-in fire suppression sprinkler system.
